Wittedrift Birding Festival

19-27 October 2019

The first-ever Wittedrift Birding Festival takes place in October. The Wittedrift area is home to some 130 species of bird, some of them migratory visitors. The Festival is designed to celebrate this abundance of birdlife and provide an opportunity to experience these beautiful birds with expert guides.

Here are some of the main attractions:

  • Guided birding tours
  • Birding on horseback
  • Illustrated talks over dinner from top birding experts
  • Bird-ringing demonstration
  • And much more!

Wittedrift offers a tranquil location for birding in an area of great natural beauty and diversity. Our local businesses and birding experts have put together 8 days of birding experiences that will take visitors to astonishingly diverse ecosystems – from fynbos to forests, from grasslands to reedbeds and riversides. Several landowners have given birders access to some fabulous places not normally open to the public.

Note on all bookings:

  • All birding experiences start at Eventide Lodge. Here you will meet your guides and receive your birding lists. You will then be taken to the start of your experience.
  • Please be prompt – the birds won’t wait for us!
  • If places are available, you can book and pay for your experience at Eventide Lodge.

If you need advice or support when booking, please contact us with your name and email address on our Facebook page, or email hello@wittedriftway.com.
